6/9/2026 New Mummy, but still AuDHDHi All,
So I am fully back and now a new mummy to my first born baby girl. I'm a little over a year and upon reflection, the sensory challenges, the body and hormones changes and the sheer assault to your usual routine that constantly changes with being a new parent have been overwhelming but completely worth it to see your child grow happy and healthy. I wanted to give a massive shout out to TWO services that have really helped me navigate being a new neurodivergent parent as I feel this is not spoken about enough in how much more you have coming at you with autism and ADHD. Firstly, there is my local Family Hub which have been a constant source of support and validation in how having the extra layer of neurodivergence has greatly impacted my mental health and kept me going during maternity leave. Secondly, there is the Autistic Parents UK Charity, they have so much information and have recently start more peer support sessions around different areas of challenge for us autistic mummies. You can find out more about them on: https://www.autisticparentsuk.org/ or follow their instagram page for updates on their peer support groups. |
